Red-Ram Technique

We started this project with our dear friend Aya Tarik. She visited us in Fayoum and she was fascinated by the compo-ram system. Later, she asked us to visit her farm in Al-Khatatba. She wanted to build a rest house for the workers at the farm. She was thinking of using a technique similar to Compo-ram but using red bricks.

In the beginning we had a lot of problems to train the local labors in the farm. Later, we tried to create a new team from the south of Egypt. We trained them to use the pneumatic rammer instead of the manual one. They were so happy to play with the rammer inside the wooden formwork.

The Difficulty we faced was the high percentage of salt in the water. That made us a lot of troubles. We the changed the source of clay we’re using with a one that has less salt percentage. Sometimes we need to use desalinated water also as a solution.
